Nicholas Fox was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Serving as a private in the U.S. Army, he participated in several actions during the conflict, most notably the siege of Port Hudson in Louisiana.
On June 14, 1863, during the siege, Fox performed an act of outstanding bravery. For his courageous actions during combat, he was awarded the United States' highest military decoration, the Medal of Honor. The award was officially presented to him decades later on April 1, 1898.
