Robert Lee Wilson was a United States Marine who posthumously received the Medal of Honor for heroism at the cost of his life on August 3, 1944, in the Marianas.
Wilson enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Pacific theater during World War II. During the liberation of the Marianas, he demonstrated extraordinary gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty, leading to the posthumous award of the nation's highest military decoration.
His ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty remains an enduring example of Marine Corps valor and devotion to country. In addition to the Medal of Honor, he was posthumously awarded two Purple Hearts for the wounds he sustained during his service.
