Robert Volz was a seaman serving in the United States Navy during the Spanish–American War. He was awarded the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions of bravery during the conflict.
While serving aboard the USS Nashville, Volz distinguished himself during the cutting of the cable at Cienfuegos, Cuba, on May 11, 1898. In the face of heavy enemy fire, he displayed extraordinary heroism throughout the operation.
His courageous conduct during the Spanish–American War earned him lasting recognition as a naval hero of the late 19th century.
