Samuel W. Davis

Samuel Walker Davis was an Ordinary Seaman in the Union Navy during the American Civil War. He served with distinction on board the USS Brooklyn during the Battle of Mobile Bay on August 5, 1864.

During the fierce engagement, Davis performed his duties with courage and determination. Despite heavy fire from Confederate forces, he remained at his post and contributed significantly to the Union victory.

For his gallantry under fire, Davis was awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration of the United States. His actions on that day exemplified the dedication and bravery of the Union Navy's enlisted sailors.
