Sergeant, Canadian Army
Sergeant Thomas George Prince, MM was an Indigenous Canadian war hero and the most decorated soldier in the elite joint American-Canadian commando unit known as the First Special Service Force, or the "Devil's Brigade," during World War II. He is recognized as Canada's most decorated First Nations soldier, having served with distinction in both World War II and the Korean War.
Renowned for his exceptional skills as a scout and forward combatant, Prince's stealthy reconnaissance missions and battlefield exploits were of major strategic importance to Allied operations. He was one of only three Canadians to receive both the Canadian Military Medal and the American Silver Star for his actions during World War II.
His remarkable courage, dedication, and leadership under fire have earned him an enduring legacy, with historians and military peers frequently describing him as "perhaps Canada's greatest soldier."
