William Coffey VC DCM was an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Born in Knocklong, County Limerick, he served as a Sergeant in the British Army during a period of significant 19th-century military engagements.
