Biography
William James Hardham was a New Zealand soldier who served with distinction in the New Zealand Military Forces. During his military service, he achieved the rank of Major and became a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry "in the face of the enemy" that could be awarded to British and Empire forces.
His courageous actions in the field earned him a lasting place in New Zealand's military history, representing the bravery of the nation's soldiers during overseas deployments at the turn of the 20th century.
After his decorated military service, Hardham returned to New Zealand where he remained a respected figure until his passing, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional valor under fire.
