William Wylie Galt was an officer in the United States Army who served during World War II. He is most notable for being a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration for valor, the Medal of Honor, which he earned for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action above and beyond the call of duty.

During his service in the European Theater of Operations, Galt demonstrated exceptional leadership and courage. His heroic actions in combat ultimately cost him his life, but his sacrifice and bravery earned him a lasting place in American military history.
