The Order of Queen Marie, historically known in Romania as the Ordinul „Crucea Regina Maria” (Order of the Cross of Queen Marie), was instituted in 1917 as a Romanian wartime sanitary order. It recognized distinguished medical and sanitary service and contributions to the care of the wounded and sick during war or epidemic conditions. The order was organized in three classes.
