Catalog description
The Imperial Order of St Vladimir was a Russian order of merit instituted in 1782 by Empress Catherine II. It was organized in four classes and could be awarded for civil service, military merit, and long service. The Fourth Class was worn on the breast from the order ribbon. Military awards could carry additional distinctions such as crossed swords; this catalog entry represents the plain Fourth Class without swords. The order remained part of the Imperial Russian honours system until 1917.
