The Companion of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India (CSI) was the third class of the Order of the Star of India, a British order of chivalry associated with distinguished service to the administration and government of British India. The Order was founded in 1861 and expanded to three classes in 1866: Knight Grand Commander (GCSI), Knight Commander (KCSI), and Companion (CSI). Appointments ceased following Indian independence in 1947. General Claude John Eyre Auchinleck was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Star of India in 1936.
