Thomas D. Collins was an American soldier who served in the U.S. Army during the American Civil War. He distinguished himself on the battlefield through acts of conspicuous bravery and gallantry under fire.
During the Battle of Resaca in Georgia on 15 May 1864, Collins performed actions of valor that would later earn him the United States' highest military decoration. For his combat heroism, he was officially honored with the Medal of Honor decades later on 14 August 1896.
