Biography

Corporal William Oxenham VC was an English soldier of the British Army who was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Oxenham served in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry during his military career. His conspicuous bravery in action earned him the nation's premier award for valor, cementing his place in British military history.

His Victoria Cross, along with his campaign and good conduct medals, is preserved and displayed at the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry Museum located in Bodmin, Cornwall.
