The Knight Grand Cross of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (GCB) is the highest class of the Order of the Bath, a British order of chivalry awarded for exemplary military or civil service. The Order was founded in 1725 and reorganised into three classes in 1815: Knight Grand Cross (GCB), Knight Commander (KCB) and Companion (CB). In the Military Division, the honour is principally associated with distinguished service by senior officers. General Sir Claude John Eyre Auchinleck was advanced to Knight Grand Cross in 1945.
